Job Description

If you aren’t very familiar with the solar industry or with roofing, you may never have heard of the term Detach and Reset, also known as D&R. Hail destroys many roofs in Colorado every year. It rarely harms solar panels. In order to replace the roof, the solar panels have to be detached, then the roof replaced, and then the solar panels have to be reset.

If you aren’t very familiar with Sandbox Solar, you will be! We’ve been one of the fastest growing companies around for several years in a role, flourishing in a way that many in this industry can’t. We’ve won many local, state, and national awards from organizations such as NoCO Style, Bizwest, nextdoor, Denver Business Journal, Solar Power World, and the International Electrical Contractors. 

But back to D&R…

We have an opening in sales that’s a little different from many sales positions. Since it’s largely residential roofs that need D&R work after a hail storm, it could sound like the job involves targeting dozens or even hundreds of individual homeowners after a hail storm. You might have had solar companies knock on your door attempting to sell services that way. That’s not how we operate. Instead, we build relationships with roofing companies who may replace dozens or even hundreds of residential roofs after a hail storm.

Pay starts at $36,400/year with a generous commission structure paid monthly. And yes, that means a really great relationship-builder who drives business could make up to $150,000 on an annualized basis. The right candidate will have an opportunity to progress into an even more lucrative direct solar sales role. 

For this role, you’d have to have either: 

  • A background in solar or roofing that gives you the technical knowledge to talk about D&R with owners and managers of roofing companies, along with an ability to network, build relationships, propose Sandbox as a solution for their D&R needs, and close deals

    - or -
  • A background in sales to roofing companies or other trades that allows you to talk the language of the trade, along with the ability to learn, understand, and convey credibility about solar and D&R.

Bonus points for those who have both! 

But either way, the successful candidate will have a curiosity for our style and values and a desire to not only be part of what we’re building, but to learn how we’re building.

This will not be the right opportunity for those who:

  • Shy away from cold calling, outbound sales, and networking
  • Might drop the ball and not follow up with roofing businesses we reach
  • Aren’t personable, confident, and credible enough to go to community events to represent Sandbox Solar and meet potential leads and referral sources
  • Are averse to using sales, marketing, and customer relations technology
  • Lack initiative, drive, and a sense of urgency
  • Allow their ego to get in everyone else’s way.

We estimate this job will be filled by May 15, 2025, but we may extend it.
