About the Role:

The Certified Damage Prevention Technician will report to the Operations Lead. The position will play a key role in safety and quality while driving, parking, and performing audits on marked gas lines. This position requires a high level of physical activity and working in a wide variety of weather conditions.


Salary Transparency: For those residing in NY, the pay for this role is at $18/hour. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Assure compliance with Code Rule 753 and promote safe excavation practices.
    • Follow strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to damage prevention.
    • Wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and company uniform.
    • Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures.
    • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Gas Main Locating & Site Visits:
    • Hand out educational materials and public awareness items to excavators.
    • Visit 3rd party excavation sites and construction zones regularly.
    • Collect data using handheld tablet or other collection device.
    • Show courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees.
    • Complete Work Orders on assigned dates.
    • Travel to visit sites on occasion.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Provide timely reports and documentation to management regularly.
    • Escalate issues and questions to Supervisor when necessary.
    • Maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
    • Keep assigned vehicle clean.
    • Report equipment and vehicle issues immediately.
    • Communicate with dispatchers.
  • Other duties as needed.
